Mumbai, Oct. 22 -- The upcoming Mumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) election will see all allies in the ruling Mahayuti contesting together, said Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis today. However, in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad, the BJP will go solo, while discussions on Thane are still underway, Fadnavis told media.
The Mumbai civic polls are being viewed as a matter of prestige for the BJP and a battle for survival for both factions of the Shiv Sena as well as the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS).
Given this, Mahayuti partners have agreed to contest jointly in Mumbai. In contrast, strong demands from local party workers and office-bearers have led to the BJP deciding to contest independently in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad.
