Mumbai, June 25 -- The Maharashtra government on Thursday announced a comprehensive state-level probe, to be conducted under the oversight of the Accountant General (AG), into alleged irregularities within the state's stamp duty registration process over the past five years.

Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule, while addressing the Legislative Assembly, announced that a special task force would be constituted to examine all "adjudication" cases registered between April 1, 2021, and March 31, 2026.
