Mumbai, March 25 -- The Maharashtra government has relocated 25 leopards to Vantara, an animal rescue, care and rehabilitation facility set up by the Reliance Foundation in Jamnagar district of Gujarat, a move that is likely to generate significant debate among wildlife experts and environmentalists.
The development was confirmed by State Forest Minister Ganesh Naik in the Maharashtra legislature on Tuesday, stating that the government had approached the Reliance Foundation to accommodate the animals and that the initial batch of 25 big cats had already been shifted.
