Mumbai, July 17 -- Maharashtra Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule has launched a pointed critique against Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Uddhav Thackeray, alleging that his recent involvement in political movements, including the Ramraksha Pathan (recitation of Ramraksha), is driven solely by political expediency.
Bawankule, who also serves as the Guardian Minister for Nagpur and Amravati, questioned the sincerity of Thackeray's current stance on Hindutva. He asserted that Thackeray's shift in focus toward these religious and cultural issues is a calculated move to recover a lost vote bank after being ousted from power.
