Mumbai, June 29 -- A delegation of 27 Scheduled Caste (SC) legislators on Monday met Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and opposed the proposed sub-categorisation of SC reservation, urging the government not to implement the move.
The legislators expressed concern over the proposal and warned that it could trigger unrest if implemented. They also announced support for a protest march to the Vidhan Bhavan on July 1 under the leadership of Anandraj Ambedkar.
Social Justice Minister Sanjay Shirsat said the state government had received more than one lakh objections and representations on the proposal and would not take a decision until all submissions were examined.
