Mumbai, May 22 -- The Fadnavis government has directed authorities to invoke the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) against individuals involved in illegal cattle smuggling and unauthorized slaughter activities in the state.
The Home Department has issued fresh guidelines aimed at strengthening enforcement of the state's cow protection laws and curbing organized cattle trafficking networks.
As part of the new measures, joint check posts involving the police and transport departments will be established along Maharashtra's borders to prevent illegal transportation of cattle.
