Mumbai, June 23 -- The Maharashtra government on Tuesday announced that a special committee has been constituted to draft a bill for the implementation of a Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in the state, on the lines of the legislative path adopted by other BJP-ruled states.
Addressing the assembly session, Minister of State for Home, Yogesh Kadam, informed the House that the government is "100 per cent committed" to bringing the law into effect and that the drafting process will commence shortly.
