Mumbai, June 3 -- Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has indicated that the state government's much-awaited farm loan waiver decision is in its final stages, but an official announcement will be made only after the Legislative Council elections due to directions from the Election Commission.

Speaking about the issue, Fadnavis said the proposed farm loan waiver scheme would be discussed during the state cabinet meeting. While the government is expected to finalise the decision and initiate the necessary administrative process, no public announcement will be made at present because of election-related restrictions imposed by the Election Commission.
