Mumbai, May 15 -- The Maharashtra cabinet's recent decision regarding government recruitment has triggered sharp criticism from senior lawyer Gunaratna Sadavarte, who alleged that the move is illegal and contrary to the state's own policies.

Under the new decision, candidates from reserved categories who avail benefits such as age relaxation, educational qualification relaxation, or concession in examination fees during competitive exams, will no longer be eligible to claim selection under the open category. Their appointments will be restricted only to seats reserved for their respective categories.
