Mumbai, March 6 -- The Maharashtra Budget for 2026-27, presented by the Mahayuti government on Friday, has completely overlooked minority communities, with no new announcements made for their welfare, alleged Samajwadi Party MLA Rais Shaikh.
Reacting to the budget, Shaikh said the government had failed to address the concerns of minorities despite clear indications in the state's Economic Survey about underutilization of funds meant for them.
He pointed out that the Economic Survey tabled in the Assembly on Thursday revealed that less than 50 per cent of the funds allocated for minority welfare had been utilized until December 2025 in the current financial year.
