Mumbai, June 14 -- A devastating road accident near temple town Pandharpur has claimed nine lives, including those of several women and children, sources in DGP office here said on Sunday.
The incident reportedly occurred when a speeding tempo carrying pilgrims returning from Siddhanath darshan lost control and plunged into a roadside well or overturned on the Mhaswad-Pandharpur stretch. Eyewitness accounts suggest the vehicle was overcrowded.
Rescue teams and local villagers rushed to the site following the crash. Injured passengers were transported to nearby hospitals in Solapur district. Casualty figures remain unconfirmed by district authorities so far.
