Mumbai, Nov. 4 -- Amid controversy over the authenticity of electoral rolls, the Maharashtra Election Commission today declared December 2 as the polling date for 246 Nagar Parishads and 42 Panchayats, while not announcing the date for holding elections for 29 municipal corporations at this stage.

Counting of votes is scheduled on December 3, while results will be declared on December 10, state election commissioner Dinesh T Waghmare said at a press conference.

The nomination process will begin on November 10. The last day to file nominations is set for November 17, and scrutiny will be conducted on November 18.
