Bhubaneswar, June 1 -- A human chain will be organised in Bhubaneswar ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's proposed visit to Odisha to press for the protection of the Mahanadi river and draw attention to concerns over water availability in the river basin.
The decision was taken at a brainstorming session on the Mahanadi water dispute held under the banner of the Mahanadi Banchao Andolan (Save Mahanadi Movement) on Sunday.
The meeting, chaired by former Director General of Police Amiya Bhushan Tripathy, was attended by representatives of almost all major political parties in the state, barring the ruling BJP.
