Sangli, Aug. 31 -- Maharashtra English School Trustees Association(MESTA) has warned the state government that if the private unaided schools do not receive reimbursement of Rs 3,000 crore from the goverment under the RTE scheme, the organisation will launch a hunger strike to get the arrears.
In a press release, Dr Sanjay Tayde-Patil, president of MESTA, said that private English schools receive reimbursement from the government for the Right to Education (RTE) scheme.
The arrears have increased to Rs 3,000 crore in the state till this year. Two years ago, the government owed Rs 2,400 crore, but due to non-payment of the amount, the figure has increased to Rs 3,000 crore till this academic year, it said.
