Mumbai, Aug. 25 -- Maharashtra Cultural Affairs Minister Adv. Ashish Shelar on Tuesday said that technical approval has been accorded for conservation of 184 monuments across Maharashtra at an estimated cost of Rs 441.14 crore through the District Annual Plan of the Directorate of Archaeology and Museums.
He directed officials to expedite conservation and restoration works of forts, ancient temples and historic monuments across the state.
Chairing a meeting on conservation of forts in Sindhudurg district at the P L Deshpande Maharashtra Kala Academy in Prabhadevi, Shelar said the provision permitting utilisation of three per cent of funds under the District Annual Plan (General) for conservation works has been extended up to 2026-27.
