Nashik, Sept. 8 -- With the Navratri festival approaching in Maharashtra, Maharashtra State Minority Commission Chairman and Minister of State rank holder Pyare Khan has sparked a debate with his remarks on the participation of people from different religions in Dandiya and other Navratri celebrations.

Khan said that people belonging to any religion should be allowed to participate in Dandiya and other Navratri festivities, provided they carry valid identification, such as an Aadhaar card.

Questioning restrictions based on religion, Khan asked why Muslim participants should be barred from such celebrations when Bollywood personalities like Aamir Khan, Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan are widely accepted and celebrated across the country.
