Akola, Nov. 7 -- Maharashtra Akola district guardian minister, Akash Phundkar on Friday issued a sharp warning to those who refuse to sing the National Song "Vande Mataram", saying such people should leave the country.

Speaking at a programme marking the 150th anniversary of the song, Phundkar said, "Those who feel ashamed to sing Vande Mataram should leave the country. They benefit from living here, yet oppose a song that symbolises our nation's freedom. If they cannot sing it, they should not live in this country."The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) organized events across India to commemorate the 150th anniversary of Vande Mataram, holding programs at 15 locations within Maharashtra alone.
