Pune, Aug. 4 -- The Maharashtra State Human Rights Commission has issued notices to senior Pune Police officials over the public parade of four murder suspects, who were allegedly made to sit on the bonnet of a police vehicle and paraded through the streets following their arrest.
The Commission described the incident as reflective of "jungle raj" and sought an explanation from the authorities.
The notices have been served to the Chief Secretary of Maharashtra, the Director General of Police (DGP), Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone II), and the Senior Police Inspector of Bharati Vidyapeeth Police Station.
