Mumbai, July 7 -- The Maharashtra government on Tuesday announced a major policy decision to make the 'Domicile Certificate' mandatory for obtaining licenses for bike-taxis and other transport services in the state.
The move is aimed at curbing illegal transportation and ensuring the safety of women and students.
The announcement came during the ongoing monsoon session of the State Legislative Assembly, which resumed on Tuesday after being adjourned on Monday due to heavy rainfall.
During the session, Shiv Sena MLA Dilip Lande raised the issue of unauthorized transport operations in the state, expressing deep concern over commuter safety.
