Nashik, Oct. 22 -- The Maharashtra government has introduced stricter rules for the sale of land held under a common 7/12 land record, making it mandatory to obtain the written consent of co-owners in specified cases.

The government has also laid down requirements regarding the official 'C' copy of the land measurement record issued by the Land Records Department and No-Objection Certificates (NOCs).

Under the new guidelines, Sub-Registrars will not be permitted to register sale deeds unless the applicable documentary requirements are fulfilled.

The decision was taken on the instructions of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, following the initiative of Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule, to prevent fraud in land transactions.
