Pune, April 12 -- To curb the increasing water pollution in the state and ensure effective implementation of remedial measures, the government has decided to establish a separate "River Rejuvenation Authority" for river restoration work. Environment Minister Pankaja Munde has directed that eco-friendly and pollution-free approaches should be prioritized while beautifying rivers.
She was speaking at a review meeting of the Mula-Mutha river pollution control project in Pune city under the National River Conservation Plan.
The meeting was attended by Municipal Commissioner Naval Kishore Ram, Additional Commissioner Pavneet Kaur, Mayor Manjusha Nagpure, members of the Standing Committee, and officials from various departments.
