Pune, Nov. 25 -- The Maharashtra government has implemented strict measures to curb the rising number of stray dog attacks on children and citizens and to control the increasing canine population.

As per the new directives, feeding stray dogs in open public spaces will now attract punitive action. Additionally, sterilisation and vaccination of stray dogs have been made mandatory, and authorities failing to comply with Supreme Court guidelines will be held accountable.

The government today instructed all municipal corporations, municipal councils, and nagar panchayats to conduct regular drives for capturing stray dogs, carrying out their sterilisation, and administering anti-rabies vaccinations.
