Nagpur, Oct. 10 -- Maharashtra Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule today suspended Assistant Deputy Sub-Registrar (Class II) A. T. Kaple of the Khamla office in Nagpur on charges of corruption, official sources said.

The suspension follows a surprise visit by Bawankule to the Khamla sub-registrar office two days ago, prompted by complaints of irregularities. During his inspection, the Minister reportedly found Rs 5,000 in cash inside a drawer.

A subsequent police inquiry, ordered by the Minister, confirmed the officer's involvement in corrupt practices, sources added.
