Mumbai, Sept. 11 -- The Chief Minister's Office (CMO) has ordered 570 employees working in ministerial establishments temporarily to return to their respective parent departments, in a move aimed at enforcing prescribed staff limits in ministers' offices.

The employees had been appointed to ministerial establishments through recommendations, deputation, temporary arrangements and verbal orders.

They were given time until September 10 to continue in these assignments, following which they were directed to report back to their original departments.

The decision has reportedly caused resentment among some ministers, as the CMO has now indicated that fresh appointments to ministerial establishments will be made only after proper scrutiny and...
