Mumbai, May 16 -- Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis' wife, Amruta Fadnavis, on Saturday announced that she would not attend the prestigious Cannes Film Festival this year despite receiving an invitation following Prime Minister Narendra Modi's appeal urging citizens to avoid unnecessary foreign travel amid global uncertainties.
In a post on X, she said that she was honoured with an invitation to represent Maharashtra, its culture and glorious handloom heritage at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival and a magnificent Paithani from Yeola (In Maharashtra), crafted with months of dedication by artisans, was prepared for this special occasion.
