Mumbai, Aug. 14 -- A fierce political slugfest has erupted in Maharashtra over industrial data and regional development, prompting Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to issue a sharp, data-backed rebuttal to Nationalist Congress Party (SP) chief Sharad Pawar.

The exchange follows Pawar's scathing criticism over the alleged relocation of 20 industrial units from Pune's Chakan MIDC and official parliamentary data revealing that over 36,000 private companies closed down across the state in the last five years.
