Mumbai, May 26 -- The Maharashtra Cabinet on Tuesday approved a series of major proposals, including renaming the Sawantwadi railway station after the architect of Konkan Railway, late Madhu Dandavate, and deferring general transfers of state government employees until June 30 in view of the initial phase of the Census operations.

In a significant decision echoing long-standing public sentiment, the Cabinet gave its nod to rename the strategically important Sawantwadi railway station in the Konkan region as 'Lokmanyan Madhu Dandavate Railway Terminus'.
