Chandrapur, Sept. 29 -- Congress Legislature Party leader Vijay Wadettiwar today alleged that the Maharashtra government adopted a politically motivated approach while identifying drought-affected regions, claiming that constituencies represented by ruling-party ministers received preferential treatment while several Opposition-held areas were excluded.
Addressing reporters, Wadettiwar said that out of 33 talukas represented by ministers in the state government, 28 had found a place in the first list of drought-hit areas notified by the administration.
He contended that farmers from constituencies represented by Opposition legislators were being overlooked in the distribution of drought relief and related benefits.
