Amravati, June 19 -- Former Maharashtra Legislative Council member, Prof. Bhaurao Tulshiram alias B.T. Deshmukh, a veteran educationist, journalist and one of the foremost advocates of Vidarbha's development, passed away today following a severe heart attack .
He was 88.
He was widely regarded as a pioneer in the movement for the removal of the region's development backlog.
Deshmukh represented the Amravati Graduate Constituency in the Legislative Council for nearly three decades, from 1980 to 2009.
Known for his well-researched interventions and principled stand, he consistently raised issues concerning teachers, professors, graduates, students and the overall development of Vidarbha.
