Mumbai, July 5 -- The Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) camp is facing a severe political crisis following a series of high-profile defections, prompting party chief Uddhav Thackeray to convene an emergency meeting of all party MLAs at his residence, Matoshree, on Tuesday evening.
The political temperature in Maharashtra rose further after the departure of several key leaders, most notably Legislative Council Deputy Chairperson Sachin Ahir, who recently joined the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena.
Party sources said the meeting, scheduled for 7 pm is aimed at conducting a "damage control" exercise following the defections and preventing any further exodus from the party's ranks.
