Amravati, March 4 -- Two youths drowned in a pond in Maharashtra's Amravati district, turning festive celebrations into tragedy, officials said on Wednesday.
The incident occurred around 6 pm on Tuesday at Bhanakheda pond in the Malegaon Khet Shivar area, where the victims had reportedly gone during Dhuli-Vandan festivities.
The deceased were identified as Anup Khadekar (19) and Kartik Raut (20), both residents of the Murlidhar Nagar area.
According to officials from Badnera Police Station, information about the drowning was received in the evening, following which a rescue operation was immediately launched.
