Nagpur, May 17 -- Two workers died after allegedly inhaling toxic gas while cleaning a sewage chamber at the Butibori MIDC area in Maharashtra's Nagpur district, police said on Sunday.

The incident occurred on Saturday evening around 6 pm near Plot K-3 in the industrial area, where three workers had entered a closed sewage pipeline chamber for cleaning work.

The deceased were identified as Prashant Manuje and Rahul Madavi, while another worker, Suresh Patekar, was admitted to a hospital and is undergoing treatment in critical condition.

According to police, the workers were engaged by contractor Gaurav Puri for cleaning the sewage chamber.
