Nagpur , July 28 -- : Three farmers from Maharashtra's Vidarbha region allegedly died by suicide in separate incidents, with mounting debts, repeated crop failures and financial distress cited as the primary reasons, officials said on Tuesday.
The deceased were identified as Raju Chuddulke (49) of Bhamb village in Yavatmal district, Umesh Bagmare (37) of Bothli village in Bhandara district, and Pawan Bhakre (45) of Taroda (Domak) village in Amravati district.
Chuddulke, a resident of Bhamb village in Ralegaon taluka of Yavatmal, owned 1.39 hectares of agricultural land at Mudhapur Ujad and had an outstanding crop loan. Family sources said he had pinned his hopes on the government's farm loan waiver scheme.
