Chandrapur, Jan. 21 -- Residents of the Tukum area in Chandrapur city are facing severe hardships due to persistent air pollution caused by emissions from the Chandrapur Super Thermal Power Station and nearby coal mining activities of Western Coalfields Limited, locals said today.

Thick smoke and coal dust have significantly affected daily life, locals said.

Chandrapur consistently ranks among the most polluted cities in the country.

According to residents, the city experiences polluted air for nearly 275 to 300 days in a year.

Although rainfall reduced pollution levels this year, locals say the situation remains critical.
