Mumbai, June 18 -- The political landscape in Maharashtra witnessed a sharp escalation today when the state Home Department granted 'Y ' security cover to six Lok Sabha MPs from the Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) faction, even as tensions simmered over their reported move to align with the Eknath Shinde-led camp.
The security upgrade follows reports of these MPs distancing themselves from the Uddhav Thackeray-led party, a development being described in political circles as the latest phase of 'Operation Tiger.' Under the 'Y ' category, each of the six MPs will now be provided with a dedicated contingent of armed security personnel, a Personal Security Officer (PSO), and a 24-hour security detail.
