Shirdi, Sept. 12 -- Shirdi police have rescued 12 children who were allegedly forced to beg at religious sites around the Sai Baba temple. Non-bailable cases have been registered against their parents, police officials said today.

The rescue operation was carried out after a large number of children were regularly seen begging around the famous pilgrimage town.

Following the operation, the Child Welfare Committee moved the children to designated shelter homes in Sangamner and Shrirampur, where rehabilitation is underway.
