Mumbai, July 27 -- Raigad Police have arrested a man and seized around 4 kg of ambergris, a prohibited wildlife product worth nearly Rs 4 crore in the international market, during a special patrol operation in Alibaug taluka, officials said tonday.
Police said the seizure was made near Chalmal Jetty in Chalmal village during patrolling in the early hours of Sunday. At around 1.30 am, the patrol team intercepted a motorcyclist whose movements appeared suspicious.
During a search, police recovered a cloth bag containing about 4 kg of ambergris concealed in the motorcycle's storage compartment.
The accused has been identified as Rahul Pandharinath Hatani. The motorcycle allegedly used to transport the contraband was also seized. The total v...
