Mumbai, July 17 -- Police have registered an FIR against a contractor on charges of alleged negligence after a mast climbing work platform (MCLP) crane collapsed at an under-construction high-rise project in Mira Road in Thane district, adjoining Mumbai, leaving one person dead and another seriously injured.
The accident occurred on Wednesday night at the JK Iris project of JP Infra in Mira-Bhayander.
According to police, the collapsed crane also crushed several vehicles parked near the construction site.
The injured were rushed to a nearby private hospital, where Mohammad Mujjammil Khokar (21), succumbed to his injuries during treatment. The other injured worker is undergoing treatment.
