Mumbai, April 29 -- A tragic accident on Tuesday night claimed the life of a police constable after a drilling crane collapsed during civic roadwork at Mankhurd in North East Mumbai.
The deceased has been identified as Santosh Gopal Chavan, who was posted at the Nehru Nagar Police Station.
According to officials, the accident occurred within the jurisdiction of the Mankhurd Police Station along the northbound carriageway of the Sion-Panvel Highway, where road construction work was being carried out by the municipal corporation. An excavator-mounted drilling crane was in use at the site when the mishap took place.
