Bhandara, Nov. 18 -- More than Rs 1.58 crore in cash was looted from the Canara Bank branch at Sitasawangi in Maharashtra's Bhandara district after the surveillance system was disabled by intruders, police said on Tuesday.

The robbery is believed to have taken place between Monday evening and Tuesday morning. Unidentified burglars reportedly broke open the bank's lock and gained entry.

According to police, the robbers decamped with Rs 1,58,12,944 from the strong room.
