Mumbai, March 4 -- Senior NCP-SP leader Jayant Patil today ruled out the possibility of a merger between his Nationalist Congress Party - Sharadchandra Pawar faction and the Nationalist Congress Party - Ajit Pawar faction following the demise of former Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar.

Patil stated that discussions around a reunification have come to a standstill, as Ajit Pawar was the one who had initiated efforts to bring both factions together. He added that Sharad Pawar was also reportedly willing to hand over the party leadership to Ajit Pawar as part of the reunification process.
