Nagpur, March 1 -- : At least 18 workers lost their lives and 24 others sustained injuries, many of them critical, after a powerful explosion ripped through an explosives manufacturing facility in Maharashtra's Nagpur district today morning, officials confirmed.
The incident took place at the detonator packing unit of SBL Energy Limited, a company engaged in mining and industrial explosives production, situated in Raulgaon village of Katol tehsil.
Authorities said the intensity of the blast left several bodies severely charred, making identification extremely difficult.
To confirm identities, officials have begun collecting DNA samples from relatives of the deceased.
