Mumbai, July 18 -- Maharashtra Governor Jishnu Dev Varma today performed the puja and ceremonially flagged off the 45th Shri Jagannath Rath Yatra organised by ISKCON from the Bhaktivedanta Swami Mission School in Andheri, Mumbai.

The Governor performed the aarti of Lord Jagannath, Lord Baladeva and Devi Subhadra, who were placed on a specially decorated chariot, and also participated in the traditional ritual of sweeping the route of the Rath Yatra with a broom.

Addressing the gathering, Varma said the Rath Yatra is a unique and unparalleled spiritual experience rooted in Sanatan Dharma and Indian culture. He said the festival represents Lord Jagannath's journey out of the temple to meet and bless devotees.
