Mumbai, July 2 -- The Maharashtra government today stayed the implementation of the controversial 'Maharashtra Right to Information (RTI) Rules, 2026', following mounting pressure from transparency activists and a direct intervention by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
The decision comes in the wake of a stern warning from veteran social activist Anna Hazare, who had threatened to launch an indefinite hunger strike from July 5 if the government did not withdraw the newly notified amendments.
