Pune, Sept. 10 -- Public Ganeshotsav will be celebrated in the Kashmir Valley this year despite direct threats, allegedly issued by militant organisations to activists, warning them of fatal consequences if they participate in the festivities.
Ganesh mandal activists in Kashmir have decided to go ahead with the celebrations despite the threats. Against this backdrop, idols of three of Pune's prominent Ganapati mandals were formally worshipped and handed over to representatives of Ganesh mandals in Kashmir.
The initiative has been undertaken for the fifth consecutive year by prominent Ganesh mandals in Pune along with entrepreneur Punit Balan.
