Gadchiroli, Sept. 14 -- In a stark reminder of the lack of basic infrastructure in remote tribal areas, residents of Salaitola village in Dhanora tehsil of Maharashtra's Gadchiroli district were forced to carry a man's body on a cot tied to bamboo poles for nearly two kilometres due to the absence of a motorable road.

According to local residents, Antaram Tulavi (55) of Fashitola village had been undergoing treatment at the District Hospital in Gadchiroli.

After being discharged, he was staying at his brother's house in Salaitola when his health suddenly deteriorated on September 13 and he died.

As Salaitola remains disconnected from a pucca road, vehicles could not reach the village.

Family members and villagers therefore tied the body...
