Washim, May 24 -- In a major political development in Washim district, former district chief of Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray faction) Suresh Mapari joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Mumbai today along with a large number of supporters.

Mapari reached Mumbai with a convoy of 29 vehicles, showcasing his political strength and support base. The BJP induction took place in the presence of Maharashtra BJP president Ravindra Chavan.

The development comes just two days after he was removed from the post of district chief by the Shiv Sena (UBT).
