Mumbai, July 26 -- The decomposed body of an unidentified woman was found in a field in Maharashtra's Beed district today, police said.

According to police, the body was discovered in a field at Palvan village in Beed taluka after local residents alerted the authorities.

A team from Beed Rural Police Station rushed to the spot and carried out a spot panchanama.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the deceased was a woman.

The body was found in a semi-nude condition and is believed to have been lying at the spot for four to five days, officials said.
