Mumbai, May 8 -- A local court today remanded Salim Dola, a close aide of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim and a key figure in a drug syndicate, to judicial custody for 14 days.

The Narcotics Control Bureau told the court that it no longer required his custody after questioning him in multiple drug cases under investigation.

Dola was detained in Istanbul last month in a joint operation by Turkey's National Intelligence Organization and local police. He was later brought to Mumbai and produced before the court under tight security.

The court sent him to Arthur Road Jail after the NCB said further interrogation was not needed.

His lawyer, Advocate Johra Charani, requested that Dola be lodged in Taloja Jail instead of Arthur Road Jail, citing...
