Nashik, Aug. 31 -- Concerns have been raised over the management of the government's onion buffer stock after a large quantity of onions reportedly rotted at a warehouse in Lasalgaon in Maharashtra's Nashik district.
The Centre had launched a large-scale onion procurement drive from May 15 through NAFED and NCCF under the Price Stabilisation Fund (PSF).
The initiative was aimed at preventing a sudden rise in onion prices and releasing stocks into the market whenever required.
However, a portion of the stock stored at Lasalgaon has reportedly deteriorated, raising questions over storage conditions and management practices.
